課程概述
以介紹西方之文學理論為主並檢視其在分析中西文學作品時所呈現之長處與不足﹒所介紹之文學理論涵蓋史傳批評、新批評、心理分析批評、符號學、女性主義文學批評﹒課程從（何謂文學？）開始，再檢視中國與西方對文學的定義與理論的異同，然後介紹文學理論的內容並運用在具體作品的分析上。
This course principally deals with western literary theories such as historical criticism, new criticism, psychoanalytical criticism, feminist literary theories, etc. In addition to the introduction of the content of these theories, the discussion of the application of these theories constitutes important part of the course
授課內容
本課程旨在介紹20世紀以降主要文學批評理論，透過閱讀、討論與文本分析，理解文學作品的意義生成機制，並培養學生批評思考能力。課程內容將涵蓋作者、閱讀、文本、細讀、敘事觀點、再現、性別、意識形態等多個批評概念，並搭配現代短篇小說文本進行理論運用與詮釋。
學生將學習：
1、文學批評的核心理論基礎
2、批評閱讀與文本細讀的技術
3、建立個人批評論述與研究能力
4、撰寫具有理論深度之批評論文
5、培養跨文化理解與多元價值觀
課程強調「理論×文本」，讓學生將抽象概念直接應用於文學閱讀與分析，為其之後專題研究與文學評論工作奠定基礎。
