在了解都市發展與成形的過程中,讓學生愛上都市,並具備賞析的能力與方法,引發學員對於都市認知的興趣與意象的體悟。

課程概述

本課程是透過都市意象的賞析方式,透過現地調查、走訪、手繪等讓學員在分組討論的方式中,彼此分享對於都市意象的感悟與啟發。

授課內容

在歷年教學與學習歷程中發現,本專業的學習多仰賴教室內的講授與理論建構,然而對於大一新生而言,對現有都市環境往往缺乏基本認識,在探索與學習過程中,經常處於被動甚至畏懼的狀態。然而,建築與都市設計專業本質上強調「因地制宜」的設計思考,而此種能力的養成,更有賴於長時間的現場體悟與空間感受。相較於課堂內的知識傳授,「走出去」進入真實都市場域的學習方式,卻長期未受到足夠重視。基於此,本課程旨在培養本系大一新生的都市認知與賞析能力,並讓學生理解「身體力行」在學習歷程中的重要性,透過走讀都市的方式,拓展學生的視野與學習深度。
本課程將以都市發展最基礎的演變歷程為出發點,引導學員初步認識並賞析都市風貌隨時間變遷所呈現的多元樣態,進而激發學生對都市認知與都市意象的興趣與體悟。課程設計結合教室內的理論講授與教室外的實地走訪學習,帶領學生探討都市的前世今生。在走訪過程中,學員須依據都市意象進行手繪紀錄作業,並於每週繳交成果;同時,每二至三週訂定一項走訪主題,學生須透過分組報告,事前進行主題探討與動線規劃,以提升後續實地學習的深度、體驗感與空間感受能力。
Through years of teaching and learning experience, it has been observed that education in this discipline relies heavily on classroom-based lectures and theoretical instruction. For first-year students in particular, their understanding of existing urban environments is often very limited, and they frequently find themselves in a passive or even hesitant position during the process of exploration and learning. However, architectural and urban design education inherently requires students to develop context-sensitive and site-specific design thinking. The essence of such an approach lies in direct on-site experience and spatial perception, both of which require time and practice to cultivate. Yet, learning through “going out” into real urban spaces has long been undervalued. Therefore, this course aims to cultivate first-year students’ abilities in urban cognition and appreciation, while emphasizing the importance of learning through physical engagement with the environment. By adopting a “city walking” and field-based learning approach, the course seeks to broaden students’ perspectives and strengthen their observational and analytical skills.
This course begins with the fundamental evolution and development of cities, guiding students to gain an initial understanding and appreciation of the changing urban landscapes over time. It aims to stimulate students’ interest in urban cognition and foster their awareness of urban imagery. The course integrates theoretical instruction in the classroom with on-site field visits, allowing students to explore the past and present of the city through both conceptual and experiential learning. During the field visits, students are required to practice hand-drawing exercises based on urban imagery and submit their work weekly. In addition, every two to three weeks, a specific theme for field study will be assigned. Students must first conduct group presentations on the selected theme and plan the visiting routes in advance, so that the subsequent field-based learning can provide deeper experiences and spatial insights.

一般都市賞析課程多是上課用案例或是影片介紹,本課程以走讀城市為本,運用課堂專題探討台北不同都市街區,並加上實地走訪,深入了解,讓學員對課堂所學印象更加深刻。課程目標特色為:
1. 都市認知與賞析的方法教學。
2. 專題性的探討不同都市尺度與背景的介紹。
3. 走讀城市實際走訪交流。
4. 手繪素描的練習,讓賞析與認知能具象化的表達呈現。
5. 攝影主題的作業,培養鑑賞事物的敏感度。
Most urban appreciation courses are conducted through case studies or video-based introductions in the classroom. In contrast, this course is centered on “walking the city” as its core learning approach. Through thematic discussions in class focusing on different urban districts of Taipei, combined with on-site field visits, students are guided to gain in-depth understanding of urban spaces, thereby reinforcing and deepening their impressions of what they have learned in class.
The key features and objectives of this course include:
To teach methods of urban cognition and appreciation.
To explore different urban scales and contexts through thematic studies.
To facilitate on-site walking tours and field-based interaction in the city.
To practice hand-drawing and sketching, enabling students to express their urban observations and appreciation in a tangible and visual manner.
To develop sensitivity in perceiving and appreciating urban environments through photography-based assignments.

分組報告,依據每周所訂定的主題規定學員報告的內容與規劃下次走訪的動線。
經由一學期的走訪學習,把各周的走訪內容整理,在期末整合為報告書繳交。

其他需求
每次主題的走訪,需要學員繪製兩張具有代表當地地區的手繪圖,以做為戶外教學的作業,並於最後期末報告中,整理為期末報告。
每周皆有攝影賞析作業,每周會有一個主題,讓同學在生活中養成紀錄賞析與感悟的習慣。並於課堂中讓學生練習介紹自己的作品與意境。並於最後期末報告中,整理為期末報告。
