課程目標

課程探討西洋舞蹈藝術從歐洲之古代舞蹈、宮廷芭蕾、浪漫芭蕾、古典芭蕾、新古典芭蕾、歐美之現代舞與後現代舞之舞蹈發展演變，並輔以舞蹈圖文、影片延伸探討西洋舞蹈之歷史。同時介紹歐美之舞蹈藝術潮流中之代表人物與代表作品。教學目標1.掌握西洋舞蹈藝術史的基本流變。2.理解不同時期歐美舞蹈的發展脈絡與演變。3.理解舞蹈藝術演變與社會思潮、政治、經濟等因素之關係。 The course explores the development and evolution of Western dance art from ancient European dance, court ballet, romantic ballet, classical ballet, neoclassical ballet, to modern and postmodern dance in Europe and the United States, and, supplemented with dance-related images, texts, and video, further investigates the history of Western dance. At the same time, it introduces representative figures and representative works in the trends of European and American dance art. The instructional objectives are: 1.To grasp the basic changes in the history of Western dance art. 2.To understand the developmental context and evolution of European and American dance in different periods. 3.To understand the relationship between the evolution of dance art and such factors as social thought, politics, and the economy.

課程概述

本課程期許學生能掌握西洋舞蹈藝術典範的變化，以及舞蹈藝術與社會發展之關係，並從歷史紀錄中習得重要舞蹈事件之發展。課堂上除了以文字、圖像展現不同時空下舞蹈形式、風格與美學標準，並說明當時人文思潮與社會環境對舞蹈的影響，俾使學生能掌握舞蹈藝術發展與社會變革之關係。再者，課程也將引介對西洋舞蹈發展有顯著貢獻或思維轉移之舞蹈事件與著名的舞蹈家。 This course aims to help students grasp the changing paradigms of Western dance and the relationship between dance and social development, and to learn about the development of key dance events through historical records. In class, texts and visual images are used to present dance forms, styles, and aesthetic standards across different times and spaces, while explaining how humanistic thought and social contexts have influenced dance. In addition, the course introduces major dance events and renowned artists who have made significant contributions to, or brought conceptual shifts in, the development of Western dance.

文藝復興與芭蕾舞的關係（Renaissance Foundations for Court Ballet ）

芭蕾舞的創始人物之介紹：1.凱塞琳‧梅迪西（Catherine de Medicis）、巴爾札薩‧2.鮑喬尤（Balthasar de Beaujoyeulx）、路易十四（Louis XIV）3.尚‧巴布迪斯特‧盧理（Jean Baptiste Lully）第一個芭蕾舞學院（Academie Nationale de Musique et de Danse）之成立及其影響4.劇情芭蕾（ballet d`action）5.尚‧喬治‧諾威爾（Jean Georges Noverre）之編舞理論與藝術觀
浪漫芭蕾（Ballet Romantique）：浪漫思潮之源起、浪漫芭蕾之代表作與知名芭蕾伶娜1. 瑪麗‧塔格里歐妮（Marie Taglioni）與「仙女」2. 卡洛達‧葛麗絲（Carlotta Grisi）與「吉賽兒」
古典芭蕾（Ballet Classique）1.俄國芭蕾之興起（The Imperial Russian Ballet）2.馬里斯‧裴堤帕（Marius Petipa）的成就與影響3.裴堤帕之代表作品「天鵝湖」、「睡美人」、「胡桃鉗」與其他（Petipa’s Three Masterworks：《Swan Lake》、《The Sleeping Beauty》、《The Nutcraker》。）
新古典主義之興起（New Classiclism）1.瑟給‧狄亞葛烈夫（Sergei Diaghilev）的成就與影響。2.米契爾‧佛金（Michel Fokine）的變革與新芭蕾。3.瓦斯洛夫‧尼金斯基（Vaslav Nijinsky）的現代芭蕾。4.雷歐尼得‧馬辛（Leonide Massine）從立體派到超現實主義。
美國現代主義的先驅（Modern Damce）1.現代舞之母依莎朵拉‧鄧肯（Isadora Duncan）之成就與影響。2.聖‧丹尼斯‧露絲（St. Ruth Denis）與泰德‧肖恩（Ted Shawn）的舞團與舞蹈學校（Denishawn）。
德國表現主義的興起影響（Expressionism）1.現代舞之父魯道夫‧拉邦（Rudolf Laban）之舞譜與舞蹈理論。2.瑪麗‧魏格曼（Mary Wigman）與柯特‧尤斯（Kurt Jooss）。3.匹娜‧包許(Pina Bausch)與德國的舞蹈劇場。
美國現代舞的先鋒1.瑪莎‧葛蘭姆（Martha Graham）的技巧與編舞理念。2.多麗絲‧韓福瑞（Doris Humphrey）與查爾斯‧魏德曼（Charles Weidman）
