課程概述
台灣近年來高科技的蓬勃發展,帶動科技產業的盛行及3C產品的普及化,卻也衍生出一些犯罪及智慧財產權爭議,例如:電腦病毒、網路犯罪、侵犯智慧財產權和隱私權等行為、各公司之間的挖角惡性競爭、基因工程改變物種生態變化等,這些現象除引起媒體與社會大眾的高度關切外,科技人才的操守與道德觀念也開始受到質疑。在進入21世紀之際,趨勢大師奈思比(John Naisbitt)呼籲世人不要忽視高科技帶來的副作用,科學家一旦失去理智,未來的發展是難以預料的,這就好比水能載舟亦能覆舟的道理。因此,本課程將先從人性面來教育同學,發揮善良的公益精神,成熟審慎的使用科技來造福人群,才是根本之道。藉由本課程希望能培養同學優質科技倫理的思想與態度,以及往後面對複雜倫理問題時,能有正確的判斷與解決問題的能力。
With rapid growth of high-technology, technology industry and 3C products are becoming more popularized. At the same time, however, more crime and copy-right conflicts also emerge. These include computer viruses, internet crime, copy-right piracy, invasion of privacy, manpower competition among companies, genetic engineering resulting in ecological disruption. Such activities have stirred up keen attention from public media and the general public. The concept of ethics and integrity among technology experts has been questioned. In the beginning of the 21st century, trend expert John Naisbitt has appealed openly to the world not to ignore the by-product of high-technology. An unreasonable scientist may be extremely unpredictable. Similar to the old saying “Water can power boat but can overturn it”. This course, therefore, begins to educate students with human nature, and to benefit society by utilizing kind public welfare spirit on technology development. Students may be fostered with accurate thought, judgment and attitude towards technology ethics, and be prepared for more complex ethical problems in the future.

The topics in the field of science ethics will be selected for discussion and a speech will be held in the College of Science every month. The audience is encouraged to ask questions and get involved in discussion. Career directors are invited. Every group of 5-10 students will have a career director.
