課程目標

本課程⽬的是要讓學⽣1.對兩棲爬⾏動物的分類特徵、⽣態與演化關係有基本瞭解。2.瞭解兩棲爬⾏動物研究與⼈類⽣活的關係，以及保育的重要性。3.對台灣兩棲爬⾏動物的研究現況的基本認識。This course aims to provide students with an understanding of 1. the taxonomic characteristics, ecology, and evolutionary relationships of amphibians and reptiles; 2. the relationship between herpetology and human life, and its importance in conservation; and 3. the current status of research on herpetology in Taiwan.

課程概述

兩棲爬⾏動物學是以兩棲類與爬⾏動物研究為主的科學。本課程將著重兩棲爬⾏動物基本知識，包括研究歷史、分類、演化、⽣活史、親緣地理、⽣態以及保育⽣物學上的瞭解，此外，也特別重視學⽣對於台灣兩棲爬⾏動物學研究現況的認識。Herpetology is the study of amphibians and reptiles. This course will introduce the research history, taxonomy, evolution, life history, phylogeny and biogeography, physiological and behavioral ecology, and conservation biology of Herpetology, especially focusing on an introduction to current research status of Herpetology in Taiwan.

授課內容

兩棲爬行動物學是以兩棲類與爬行動物研究為主的科學。本課程將介紹兩棲爬行動物學的研究歷史、基本分類概況與演化、生殖模式與生活史、生理(包括水分平衡、氣體交換、溫度調節與能量代謝)與行為(溝通與社會行為、覓食生態與食性、防禦行為)生態的適應、親緣地理以及保育生物學。本課程更側重對台灣兩棲爬行動物的研究進展與生態上的介紹與瞭解。
Herpetology is the study of amphibians and reptiles. This course will introduce the research history, taxonomy, evolution, life history, phylogeny and biogeography, physiological and behavioral ecology, and conservation biology of Herpetology, especially focusing on an introduction to Herpetology of Taiwan.

授課方式

本課程兩年開一次, 歡迎任何對蛙類, 蜥蜴與蛇有興趣的同學修習. 課程除課堂講授, 也涵蓋校外教學(夜間觀察)、標本實作與分組討論等課堂活動。
