課程概述
本課程為地理學進階課程之一，由新區域地理學的視野認識區域的探索?程，來豐富對臺灣地理的體認。透過對臺灣的自然、空間、與人文向度，引導學生認識臺灣這個地方，並關注人文與環境系統間之互動。課程中涵蓋了自然環境、政治地理、社經發展，並兼及本土地理資料分析之技術等專題。此外，亦教導學生運用地理視野及地理學之基本議題與概念，來關注臺灣。課程所涵蓋的主題包括：人口、自然、經濟、農業、文化、政治、及都市化等。由臺灣地理文本的分析，來整合上述各類議題，進而介紹文本中的地理臺灣。本課程的先修課程：地學通論。
This is an advanced course to practice of new regional geography which demystifies the research process and enriches the understanding and experience of the geography of Taiwan. This course is intended to provide students with an understanding of Taiwan around them in its physical, spatial, and human dimensions. Central to the course is the study of interactions of humans and environmental systems. Specific topics emphasized in this course include the physical environment, political geography, socioeconomic development, and techniques in geographic data analysis. This course covers basic themes and concepts in geography, and it teaches you to look at Taiwan from a geographical perspective. We will examine a wide range of topics: population, nature, economics, agriculture, culture, politics, and urbanization. In order to hold these diverse issues together, we will examine them through the unifying theme of text analysis.
授課內容
本課程介紹臺灣本島及其週邊地理概況。課程內容包括：1. 臺灣的自然史；2. 臺灣的歷史地理過程；3. 臺灣的區位；4. 臺灣的環境；5. 臺灣的地景；6. 地緣政治觀點下的臺灣； 7.臺灣的氣象與氣候；8. 臺灣的岩石與地形；9. 臺灣的水體與水文；10. 臺灣的生物與農業；11. 臺灣的能源與工業； 12. 臺灣的能源與交通； 13. 臺灣的人口與城鄉；14. 臺灣各民族及其文化。本課程將安排校外教學，前往臺灣北部海岸和玉山國家公園。
This course aims to introduce the geography of Taiwan, including the main island and islets around. Topics in the course include 1. the natural history of Taiwan, 2. historical geographical processes of Taiwan, 3. locations of Taiwan, 4. environments of Taiwan, 5. landscapes of Taiwan, 6. a geo-political view of Taiwan, 7. weather and climate of Taiwan, 8. rocks and landforms of Taiwan, 9. water and hydrology of Taiwan, 10. biome and agricultures in Taiwan, 11. energy and industries in Taiwan, 12. societies and transportations in Taiwan, 13. populations and settlements in Taiwan, 14. peoples and their culture in Taiwan. Field trips to the northern coast of Taiwan and Yushan National Park will be arranged for this course.
