Understanding Core ESG Concepts and Pillars To familiarize students with the fundamental concepts of ESG and the essence of its three major pillars (Environmental, Social, and Governance), establishing a holistic understanding of environment, social, and governance issues as a foundation for subsequent action strategy design.
Analyzing Corporate ESG Challenges and Opportunities To analyze the risks, stakeholder pressures, and potential for innovative transformation that businesses encounter when promoting sustainability initiatives.
Cultivating Critical Thinking and Ethical Perspectives on ESG Issues To encourage students to explore the value and controversies of ESG-related actions from diverse viewpoints (such as social justice, environmental ethics, and corporate responsibility).
Applying Case Analysis to Understand Practical ESG Action Strategies To enable students to learn how to evaluate, plan, and improve ESG-related initiatives through real-world cases, and to assess their impact.

課程概述
本課程旨在引導學生認識並探究ESG(環境、社會與公司治理)三大面向的核心概念與實務應用,透過案例分析、專題討論與小組專案,理解企業如何在經營策略中納入永續考量。課程內容涵蓋氣候變遷與碳管理、社會責任與包容性、多元治理與道德風險等主題,並介紹全球與在地的ESG行動實例,如綠色供應鏈、社區參與計畫、以及董事會多元化。學生將學習如何辨識ESG議題對企業聲譽、風險控制與創新機會的影響,並思考如何設計具體可行的ESG策略。課程強調實作與批判思維的結合,適合對永續經營、社會創新與企業責任有興趣的大學部學生,培養其作為未來行動者的永續素養與解決問題能力。
This course is designed to guide students to recognize and explore the core concepts and practical applications of the three pillars of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance). Through case analysis, specialized discussions, and small group projects, students will understand how corporations integrate sustainability considerations into their business strategies.
The curriculum covers topics such as climate change and carbon management, social responsibility and inclusion, and diverse governance and ethical risks. It also introduces real-world examples of global and local ESG initiatives, such as green supply chains, community engagement programs, and board diversity.
Students will learn how to identify the impact of ESG issues on corporate reputation, risk control, and innovation opportunities. They will also be guided to design concrete and feasible ESG strategies. The course emphasizes the integration of practical application and critical thinking. It is suitable for undergraduate students interested in sustainable management, social innovation, and corporate responsibility, aiming to cultivate their sustainability literacy and problem-solving skills as future agents of change.
授課內容
對於大四學生而言,這門課定位為「總整課程」(Capstone Course)或「專案式學習」(PBL)。針對「北投區」的防災議題,我們必須結合北投特殊的地理環境(火山、溫泉、坡地、河流)與社會結構(高齡化、觀光產業),將ESG轉化為具體的防災韌性策略。本課程設計理念,為從理論到落地的「北投韌性」理解與建立。針對ESG三個面向,在教學與實作上的聚焦點,分述如下: E (Environment): 聚焦北投的特殊地質風險(大屯火山群、斷層)、水文風險(基隆河/淡水河洪氾)與氣候變遷調適。S (Society): 探討高齡化社區的防災脆弱度、觀光客的安全管理、以及在地文化的保存與韌性。G (Governance): 分析公部門的防災體系,並引入「企業認養」、「社區自主防災」等治理模式。
For senior-year students, this course is positioned as a Capstone Course and is delivered through a Project-Based Learning (PBL) approach. Focusing on disaster risk reduction and resilience in Beitou District, the course integrates Beitou’s distinctive physical environment—including volcanic activity, hot springs, hillslopes, and river systems—with its social structure, such as an aging population and a tourism-oriented economy. Through this integration, the abstract concept of ESG is translated into concrete strategies for disaster resilience.
The core design philosophy of the course is to move from theory to practice, fostering an in-depth understanding and practical construction of “Beitou Resilience.” Teaching and hands-on activities are organized around the three ESG dimensions as follows:
E (Environment):
Emphasis is placed on Beitou’s unique geological hazards (the Tatun Volcano Group and fault systems), hydrological risks (flooding of the Keelung and Tamsui river systems), and climate change adaptation.
S (Society):
The course examines disaster vulnerability in aging communities, safety management for tourists, and the preservation of local culture as a component of community resilience.
G (Governance):
Students analyze public-sector disaster management frameworks and explore alternative governance models, including corporate participation through sponsorship or adoption programs and community-based disaster preparedness initiatives.
