課程目標
1.讓學生了解都市地理學之主要概念、理論及分析研究方法。 2.比較源自西方有關都市之理論與模式，與台灣都市的發展，讓學生省思並探討其原因。
1. To enable students to understand the main concepts, theories, and analytical research methodologies of urban geography.
2. To compare Western-originated urban theories and models with the urban development of Taiwan, enabling students to reflect upon and explore the underlying reasons for any differences.

課程概述
教學概念：本課程之主要目標是希望學生能了解都市地理學的主要概念、理論及分析研究方法
教學內容：由於本課程屬於入門性質，強調廣度的介紹，盡可能將主要課題引入，俾使學生對本課程有一個較完整且通盤的了解。具體內容包括：導論、都市與都市化、都市的分類、都市景觀、都市之影響圈與大小分佈、中地理論、都市內部結構理論、都市土地利用、都市郊區化、都市在區域發展上的角色。
The main purpose of the course is trying to let the students understand the main concepts, theories and methodologies of urban Geography.
Being an introductionary course for the undergraduate students, the course will be emphasized on the general context containing as many as possible the significant topics of urban Geography, instead of specializing in some specific topics, in order to let the students understand more completely the basic contexts about urban Geography. These include the items as fallowing:(1)introduction, (2)Urbanization,(3)Urban classification,(4)Townscape,(5)the zone of urban influences,(6)the size distribution of urban places,(7)central place theory,(8)the theories of the urban structure,(9)urban landuses,(10)suburbanization,(11)the role of cities in the regional development.
