課程目標
1. 深化並拓展學生的專業智識與技能；2. 訓練學生獨立思考、發現並解決問題的能力；3. 指導學生小組合作技術與撰寫地理學術論文的能力；4. 指導大四的學生利用產、官、學界的既有成果，落實自己的研究、並認識地理學者在社會的角色與價值。

課程概述
本課程以研究樣區為例，引導同學從做中學，主動認識地理研究的核心概念與研究方法。採分組教學，分組模式如下: 1.研究地區之歷史發展組；2. 研究地區空間特性與土地利用變遷組；3. 研究地區自然地理特性與影響因素組 : 譬如分析 3.1地質、地形方面、3.2氣象與氣候方面、3.3水文與自來水系方面、3.4土壤與生物方面、3.5自然災害等方面；4研究地區人文地理特性與影響因素組 : 譬如分析 4.1行政區劃與人口方面、4.2聚落與經濟方面、4.3社會與文化方面、 4.4交通與休閒方面；5.研究地區環境保護與永續利用之途徑組；6.結論與建議組。
授課內容
This class will be taught in the final year, and it would take articles from professional journals chosen by students themselves to present in the class.
Students are asked to read them in advence and to present and discuss the main ideas and relavent application isses of those articles. The score wil be marked according to the mid- and final reports upon both the review of articles chosen and assigned in class and the completement of the final thesis each student chooses to do.
本課程透過閱讀、報告，引導學員架構並完成其畢業論文。學員除了繳交期中、期末報告，並且必須按時完成畢業論文。
