課程目標

引導學生熟悉無機化學中之配位化學 有機金屬化學等基礎知識之基本內容 並充份應用於催化及材料化學領域。

課程概述

本課程為第二學期的基礎無機化學,延續上學期之無機理論,擴充至過渡金屬元素。 主要聚焦於無機配位化學與過渡金屬元素化學之基本觀念說明及推導,同時引入無機化學在催化反應、材料化學及生化之應用。主要內容包括配位化學之結構、鍵結、電子光譜、反應機構、有機金屬化學、反應與催化、有機金屬化學、生物無機化學等。並強調無機化學與其他化學領域及一般應用。 學習重點: magnetic susceptibility, valence bond theory, crystal field theory, ligand field theory, ligand field stabilization energy (LFSE), π back-bonding, spectrochemical series, Jahn-Teller effect, angular overlap model, molar absorptivity, Russell-Saunders coupling, spin-orbit coupling, spin multiplicity, free-ion term, Hund’s rules, selection rule, Laporte selection rule, spin selection rule, charge transfer to metal (CTTM), ligand to metal charge transfer (LMCT), charge transfer to ligand (CTTL), metal to ligand charge transfer (MLCT), Tanabe-Sugano Diagrams, principle of microscopic reversibility, steady-state approximation, free energy of activation, enthalpy (heat) of activation, entropy of activation, kinetically labile or inert (robust), thermodynamically stable or unstable, dissociation (D), association (A), dissociative interchange (Id), associative interchange (Ia), aquation, anation, ligand field activation energy (LFAE), conjugate base mechanism (SN1CB), trans effect, trans influence, inner-sphere reaction, outer-sphere reaction, cluster compounds, ferrocene, fullerene, carbene complex, carbyne complex. The course will cover a variety of coordination compounds, organometallic compounds and reactions, focusing on mechanisms in organometallic reactions. Applications of coordination chemistry and organometallic compounds in homogeneous catalysis, polymerization, and metathesis. During the course, students will learn the fundamental knowledge in this field.

The course will cover a variety of the basics and outlines of homogeneous catalysts (metal complexes) and catalytic reactions. Applications of coordination chemistry and organometallic compounds in homogeneous catalysis, polymerization, and metathesis.
