課程目標
本課程旨在使學生認識浪漫時期與維多利亞時代的英國文學作品,透過分析文本本身以及介紹其歷史文化背景的方式,使學生學習如何欣賞文學作品,並進一步培養學生的批判性思考能力。
This course aims to acquaint students with the history of English literature by introducing canonical literary works in the Romantic period and the Victorian period. Through close reading and analyses of the texts, students will be instructed to learn about the historical and cultural background, literary techniques, philosophical ideas, and literary theory and criticism of the texts introduced. The ultimate purpose of this course is for students to acquire a taste in literature, to form the ability to appreciate the imaginations of the British mind and the versatility of the English language.

本課程教授浪漫時期與維多利亞時代的英國文學作品,介紹不同的文類,並分析文本的形式與內容,包括文學中使用的技巧、歷史文化背景、文學作品中反映的哲學與意識形態等。
This course introduces some of the most important English literary works in the Romantic period (between the late 18th and the early 19th centuries) and the Victorian period (1837-1901). Different literary genres of this period (especially poetry and novels) will be introduced, with emphases on both the form and content of literary works. Therefore students will be guided
授課內容
本課程涵蓋浪漫時期、維多利亞時代、及現代之英國文學。除文本外,學生將經由其他參考書目及影音資源接觸各時期之哲學思想、社會文化、及政治變遷。本課程將經由精讀文本方式講解歷史背景、作者生平、文學技巧、理論批評等等,以精進學生閱讀及理解文學之能力。本課程以歷史為主軸,每個時期在進入文本之前將先探討時代背景,使學生能更深刻了解文學作品為反映人類文化之產物。
This course provides a survey of major authors' works from the Romantic Period, the Victorian Age, and twentieth century. The students will engage the texts, supplemental readings, and audiovisual materials in order to gain an an understanding of the texts as well as the philosophical, literary, cultural, and social issues of each era.
授課方式
本課程主要以教師講解等為主,學生進行分組報告及作業為輔,並佐以相關影音教材、搭配期中及期末測驗以驗證學習成效。

為配合雲端學習,本課程每次上課將錄音放上Team系統,以供遠距學生收聽。上課的ppt檔皆在課輔系統的教材區中。遠距學生將另行安排線上視訊考試。
