課程目標

The Aim of the Course The aim of English Writing 1 is to increase students’ knowledge and use of English grammar and to develop their competence in composing clear, effective sentences using the right words, sentence structures, grammar, and punctuation marks and in connecting sentences into paragraphs using the right strategies. 課程目標 「大一英文寫作」的目的,在增強學生英文文法的知識和使用能力,使學生能運用正確的詞彙、句構、文法和標點符號,寫出簡明有力的英文句子,並能運用適當的策略,將句子連接成篇。

課程概述 「大一英文寫作」的目的,在增強學生英文文法的知識和使用能力,使學生能運用正確的詞彙、句構、文法和標點符號,寫出簡明有力的英文句子,並能運用適當的策略,將句子連接成篇。 上學期的主要授課內容為: (1) 英文句子的基本結構與詞序、(2) 八大詞類在句中的功能、 (3) 英文片語在表詞達意上的功能、(4) 獨立子句的?型與功能、(5) 附屬子句的?型與功能、(6) 複合句的結構與對等連接詞的用法、(7) 名詞、形容詞與副詞的表意功能與形式、(7) 動詞的時與貌 (基礎篇)、(8) 代名詞在篇章中的功能與使用、(9)動狀詞 (即現在分詞、過去分詞、動名詞與不定詞) 的功能與使用、(10)「被動語態」的功能與使用、(11) 轉折詞在篇章中之功能與使用 (基礎篇)、(12) 主詞與動詞的一致、(13) 英文字詞的連用 (基礎篇)、(14) 標點符號的正確使用 (基礎篇)、(15) 英文句子的結合與擴寫 (基礎篇)、(16) 學生習作中語法、用字及標點符號的錯誤分析。 下學期的主要授課內容為: (1) 英文句型的介紹與詳解、(2) 動詞的時與貌 (進階篇)、 (3) 代名詞與前行詞的一致、(4)「情態助動詞」的表意功能與用法、(5) 直接引述和間接引述、(6) 同位詞、(7) 英文句子的結合與擴寫 (進階篇)、(8) 英文字詞的連用 (進階篇)、(9) 詞句的平行結構、(10) 強調句、(11) 倒裝句、(12) 同義字在篇章中的功能與使用、(13) 轉折詞在篇章中之功能與使用 (進階篇)、(14)冠詞在篇章中的功能與使用、(15) 標點符號的正確使用 (進階篇)、(16) 習作中語法、用字及標點符號的錯誤分析。 Course Description The aim of English Writing 1 is to increase students’ knowledge and use of English grammar and to develop their competence in composing clear, effective sentences using the right words, sentence structures, grammar, and punctuation marks and in connecting sentences into paragraphs using the right strategies. The topics to be covered in the first semester are: (1) the basic sentence structures and English sentence word orders (2) parts of speech and their functions in a sentence, (3) the functions and uses of English phrases, (4) types and functions of independent clauses, (5) types and functions of dependent clauses, (6) the structure of a compound sentence, (7) the forms, meanings and uses of nouns, adjectives, verbs, and adverbs (8) the tenses and aspects of verbs (basic), (9) the uses of verbals (i.e., present and past participles, gerunds and infinitives), (10) passive voice, (11) transition words as discourse markers (basic), (12) subject-verb agreement, (13) collocations (basic), (14) correct use of punctuation marks (basic), (15) sentence combining (basic), (16) analysis of students’ writing errors. The topics to be covered in the second semester are: (1) sentence patterns, (2) the tenses and aspects of verbs (advanced), (3) agreement of pronouns and antecedent, (4) modal verbs, (5) reported speech, (6) appositives, (7) sentence combining (advanced), (8) collocations (advanced), (9) parallel structures, (10) emphatic sentences, (11) inverted sentences, (12) the function and use of synonyms in writing, (13) transition words as discourse markers (advanced), (14) the use of determiners as cohesive devices (15) correct use of punctuation marks (advanced), (16) analysis of students’ writing errors.
