這一門課介紹美洲各國實況, 並且訓練, 要求學生能夠獨立研討區域地理和撰寫區域地理報告.

課程概述
這一門區域地理課程首先介紹區域地理學研究方法的操作和報告撰寫, 然後以美洲為單元, 概要說明美洲的1)自然地理, 2)自然史, 3)歐洲人到達之前的美洲歷史地理變遷, 4)英語美洲和拉丁美洲的分化, 並且從大小尺度各舉一例, 說明地方觀點和全球觀點在討論同一個區域地理議題的差別. 隨後逐一討論美洲各國地理現況. 這一門課不但要求學生認識美洲各國實況, 並且能夠獨立研討區域地理和撰寫區域地理報告.
This course is divided into three parts. The first part is to explain and demonstrate methods in studying regional geography and in writing a report for the course. The second part is to introduce physical geography of America and its natural history, historical geography before European arrivals, the geographical differentiation between Anglo America and Latin America. The third part is the discourse on subregions and nations.
授課內容
本區域地理課程，主要目的是為了讓學生對於美洲區域能夠有整體的理解，包括其自然環境及人文社會現況。在課程的設計上，將美洲區分為三大區域，以宏觀的角度，分別介紹北美洲、中南美洲、加勒比海地區的自然、人文環境及目前面臨的地理議題。
In this course, students are expected to learn and have overall understandings of America in terms of its physical and human environments. Specifically, this module provides big pictures of North America, Latin America and The Caribbean. This helps students to obtain knowledge of the geography of America in depth.
