課程概述

論文研究(Seminar)乃文大觀研所最傳統、也是碩班生在研究過程中最重要的課程之一。Seminar 提供全所師生一個開放且多向溝通的平台，針對觀碩二以上修課同學之論文進行過程，與任何觀光相關研究之議題，提出質疑和建設性的意見。在本課程中除能討論師生學術研究過程之甘苦談，亦可共享大家的課外生活體驗。透過兩年之全程參與，期許研究生在此過程中能掌握做研究之基本倫理與態度，並加強彼此的互動與支援，凝聚全所之情誼。

本課程分別開設於碩士班二年級上、下學期，以觀碩二以上修課同學之論文主題為各週報告與討論重點。碩一全體同學雖不修課，亦要求必須每週出席觀摩。第一學期之課程重點在於論文前三章proposal之建構，期望奠定同學論文撰寫之邏輯推理基礎，增進論文概念發展時之文獻探討與研究設計的學術價值。

授課內容

COURSE CONTENTS AND INTRODUCTION:

This course, 'Seminar in Tourism', is the most traditional course in the Graduate Institute of Tourism Management in CCU, and also the most important course for the postgraduate students in their research processes.  The Seminar provides the supervisors and the students an open space and platform to discuss, exchange, and share any idea and issue relating to tourism research in the methodology domain.  Everyone is encouraged to share their research interests and updates, even extracurricular lives, throughout the Seminar.  Active participations and interactions are highly expected to connect everyone.  During the two-year extensive participation, the postgraduate students should be trained to grasp the essence and ethics of the academic research.

The one-year course is compulsory for the second-year master students.  However, the first-year master students are all required to attend every week.  Students are scheduled to present their theses in turn for further discussion.  In the first semester, the focus of the Seminar is on the students' proposals, covering their chapters of the Introduction, Literature Review, and Research Design.  In the second semester, the focus of the Seminar is on reporting the students' data analysis, findings and discussions.  Hopefully the students can develop academically-correct logic in conducting their studies and enhancing their theses writing abilities.

論文研究(Seminar)乃文大觀研所最傳統、也是碩班生在研究過程中最重要的課程之一。Seminar 提供全所師生一個開放且多向溝通的平台，針對觀碩二以上修課同學之論文進行過程，與任何觀光相關研究之議題，提出質疑和建設性的意見。在本課程中除能討論師生學術研究過程之甘苦談，亦可共享大家的課外生活體驗。透過兩年之全程參與，期許研究生在此過程中能掌握做研究之基本倫理與態度，並加強彼此的互動與支援，凝聚全所之情誼。

本課程分別開設於碩士班二年級上、下學期，以觀碩二以上修課同學之論文主題為各週報告與討論重點。碩一全體同學雖不修課，亦要求必須每週出席觀摩，並參與key papers之閱讀、發問及討論。第一學期之課程重點在於論文前三章proposal之建構，期望奠定同學論文撰寫之邏輯推理基礎，增進論文概念發展時之文獻探討與研究設計的學術價值。第二學期重點則在於實證結果之蒐集、分析與討論，並提供同學們研討會口頭發表之模擬演練機會。

(In response to the University executing the Teaching Excellence Project by Ministry of Education since 2011, all the courses of our Department in the tutoring system show the University's Prospect & Vision, Mission Statement, and Educational Goals and Objectives of the University, the Business School, and the Department of Tourism Management, and students' core competences expected by the Business School and our Department.  Hopefully the students may understand the messages clearly, and learn hard to improve themselves.)

授課方式

TEACHING APPROACH:

1. 以碩二論文報告為主要內容，配合全所師生提問與討論來進行。(The second-year master students present their thesis drafts, and the professors and other students in the master program ask questions and discuss on each topic.)
2. 碩二上臺報告順序，原則上由班上同學於前學期末抽籤決定，並由課代彙整後通知全所師長、同學及所助教。(The students decide the sequence of presentations by drawing.  The sequence is announced to everyone in the master program.)
3. 第一輪presentation之外如欲重新提報初審，則請務必徵求指導教授同意，並於報告前三週通知授課教師，以便協調各位老師之出席狀況。(If you need to re-apply for your Thesis Proposal Defence after the first-round presentations, you must consult with your supervisor(s) for their agreement.  You also have to inform the professors in charge of this course in advance.)
4. 若報告同學因個人進度問題，無法依照原定日期上臺，請務必事前和指導教授與授課老師討論；獲得同意後並須協調其他同學遞補，不可逕行延後報告週次，打亂各週原定人數進度。若其他同學無法遞補，此位同學仍須上台報告，以示負責。(If you cannot give presentation on the scheduled date, please tell your supervisor(s) and the professors in charge of this course in advance to make necessary adjustments.)

2. 碩二每位自選英文key paper一篇(請於指定日期前依授課教師之要求上傳至課輔或傳給課代彙整，並傳給各位老師與碩二及碩一同學)。

每位同學論文草稿之參考文獻排列，務請依本校商學院要求之格式，以利審查。

其他備註

COURSE PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS:

本課程為全所共享之重要時段，針對出席狀況與上課態度等之要求如下：
1. 本課程出席要求依學校規定。一學期內點名無故不到場(曠課)兩次又未請假者則不及格，恕不接受其它理由通融。公假或事假須事先至學生請假系統上網登記。病假可於當天或事後上網補登錄。 請假之同學請於兩週之內繳驗請假證明文件正本，並同時繳交影印本給授課教師存檔(須註明班級，姓名，學號，請假課程與請假日期等相關資訊)，以便銷假。(Leave students Internet registration, original to submit for examination within two weeks of leave, and paid photocopies for classroom teachers at (indicate the class name, student number, leave the course and leave dates and other related information).
2. 請假同學若提供家長證明， 請提醒家長於假單上親自寫下行動電話號碼，以便聯絡。並於繳交證明給老師之前，檢查是否已註明班級，姓名，學號，請假課程與請假日期等相關資訊。若須傳真，請傳至文大觀光系辦公室：02-28611402。(Leave school if parents please remind parents to wrote the contact telephone number on the form. Prior to his teacher and was paid to prove, check that you have annotated the class name, student number, leave the course and leave dates and other related information. If it is necessary to fax requests are transmitted to the Department of Tourism Office: 02-28611402.)
3. 碩士班一年級同學雖未選修學分，請假不須上網，但仍務請比照上述要求，提供書面證明辦理。其出缺席記錄將作為論文指導老師選擇與日後評分參考之重要依據。若曠課兩次以上且未依學校規定請假者，則於其碩二Seminar時，則無權進行論文初審之抽籤作業，而將直接優先提論文初審。(First year graduate students are required to attend the seminar)
4. 同學上課務請提早就座，13:10後到的同學，10分鐘以內罰10元，10~20分鐘罰20元..以此類推；遲到一節課罰50元，未到且沒請假的一律繳交100元。公基金於學期末收齊，轉為當年度之送舊/迎新基金。(For students who come late, penalty will be followed)
7. 課程進行中，除討論時段外，請各位務必維持教室內的秩序，以尊重發言者的發言權。(Please maintain classroom order)
8. 課堂中請勿使用筆電或行動電話作為休閒用途。(If in the classroom in any type of mobile or notebook computer for leisure purposes, or in a non-specified or are discussing was punctuated by, affect other students in class, by discouraging has not improved, and classroom performance grade will be deducted.)

要報告

ASSIGNMENT REQUIREMENTS:

碩二同學繳交書面資料與上臺報告之要求如下：
1. 為養成研班生重視紀律與信用之負責態度，以及獲得師生意見回饋之深度與廣度，故「嚴格」要求所有報告同學之manuscript必須於口頭報告之「前一週」Seminar日之16:00前繳交予所有師長及同學。繳交時請至系辦，請所助教於封面簽收並登記是否準時繳交，準時繳交之分數佔Seminar課程成績之10%。(Manuscript must be provided one week prior to the oral presentation)
2. 所有manuscript必須包含「封面(註明為初審或進度報告)」、「目錄」、「正文」、「參考文獻」與「附錄」。初審進度應含「完整前三章」且包含「問卷或訪談問項」，提交時並請附上初審評分表給每位老師。第二輪以後之報告(無論為進度報告或初審)，則於內容上須呈現明顯之進步，且皆須附上之前「所有老師之提問與回應」！(All manuscript must require necessary parts)
3. 為提升同學們對論文學術格式編排之重視程度，每次上臺前繳交之manuscript，需先請本校商學院博士班學姊長依院審格式規範進行格式審查。審查之時程為manuscript繳交日之前至少一週，請配合博士班學姊長排定之每週收件與發還日期，自行預約格式審查。審格式時依格式評分表所列項目來計分，格式分數佔Seminar課程成績之20%。每位同學繳交論文manuscript至系辦時，須一併繳交格式審查評分表。另經系所務會議之決議，若格式審查之分數未達80分，則該次上臺僅可提出論文進度報告，不得提報初審，故請欲提初審之同學們千萬注意論文格式編排之細節，以免自誤！(Manuscript format must be checked by PhD assistants prior to the presentation)
4. 發送給老師及同學之manuscript皆採最基本之訂書針平裝即可，以減少裝訂成本。給老師的manuscript請依正式論文格式呈現，但採雙面列印以符合環保。給同學之manuscript則可採「每張工作表頁數以2頁或4頁列印」、「參考文獻以較小字/較密間距列印」、「雙面列印」或「廢紙單面列印」等皆可接受，但所有同學及老師的內容必須一致。(Manuscript format must be adequate)
5. 上臺前一週繳交書面資料時就應該力求完整與齊備，請勿於報告當天才臨時提供給老師們大幅度的補充資料修改內容，對老師們評分而言反具負面效果！如果實在情非得已，修正之處請另列勘誤對照表，並於報告當天在PPT呈現時，就勘誤部份以斜體字、粗體或underline等方式，特別註明清楚，且於口頭加以說明。(Manuscript content must be spelling checked)
6. 請報告同學上課前即自行備妥並試放簡報PPT檔，並請自行準備雷射投影筆；必要時可請專人負責協助器材及媒體播放、現場燈光控制、錄音、門禁管控等，以增加整個報告流程之效率與效果。(Please prepared quality PPT presentation)
7. 初審報告時間為18分鐘(15、17及18各按鈴一次，時間到則立刻結束)；進度報告時間為10分鐘(8及10各按鈴一次，時間到則立刻結束)；每位老師提問盡量以3分鐘為原則。(The proposal will be about 18 minutes;each faculty questionning time will be around 3 min.)
8. 報告程序上每人初審完直接由各位老師提問，同學們不發問。每人進度報告時則先由碩二報告同學預備3個key paper之問題，抽籤請碩一同學作答；接著由碩二與碩一同學配對向上臺碩二同學發問，由CEO負責登記每組提問次數；最後才由現場老師們對碩二上臺同學提問。(After each proposal presentation it will be directly questionned by faculty. In the progress report, the 1st year graduate students will be asked questions regarding the key papers; followed by faculty questions.)
9. 每次每位同學均須填寫建議表(open comments)並簽名(請見附檔)，填答後請於下課前交給CEO、並彙整後交給報告同學。(Each students must complete and return the open comments to be collected by the class leader)
10. 若為初審報告，同學於繳交manuscript時附上評分表給每位師長，報告完後老師評分表會交給所助教統計成績，同學可於報告後隔週上課當天，自行找主持老師詢問初審結果是否通過，並請洽所助教領取老師們之初審書面意見。初審標準乃以過半數的老師評分超過70分為通過。(The qualified grading for manuscript proposal is 70)
要分組討論
GROUP DISCUSSION REQUIREMENTS:

1. 為增進全體碩班生之課程參與及經驗分享與傳承，碩二進度報告時，碩一與碩二以'Pair Discussion'的方式討論並發問，每一個pair原則上由1位碩一及1位碩二同學組成。每個pair每學期必須主動發問四次(以pair為計算單位)，換言之，每個研究生本學期必須主動發言至少平均兩次。若有配對落單之畸零人數，得由授課教師指定形成含碩一與碩二生之3人小組，該組主動發問次數改為六次。進度報告時請每個pair必須比鄰而坐。(In order to enhance learning experience, in the progress report, first and second year students please seat in pair for questionning. Each pair must made 4 questions each semester)
2. 所有碩班生請於學姊長抽定後配對分組，CEO將分組名單傳給所有師生一份。(Namelist of the student pairs must provide to the faculty and class alike)
3. Key paper之選讀乃為協助碩二同學對自身論文之掌握，增加碩二與碩一同學之互動，並提升碩一同學論文研究課程之參與度。每位碩二同學於學期初自選論文之英文key paper一篇，彙整後提供碩一研讀。上臺進度報告時，則須自備key paper內容之3個問題，抽籤請碩一同學回答。碩一碩二同學於平時或課內討論時段，亦可針對key papers之內容相互切磋。(Each 2nd year student presenter must provide key paper for 1st year students to read followed with questions)
4. 若由碩二判定無法正確回答key paper問題之碩一同學，須傳送繳交該篇被提問key paper的摘要報告(>1000字)，給提問的學長姐批閱。繳交期限定為隔週一的23:59之前，遲交摘要報告的研一同學則記為0.5次曠課。(For those 1st year students who fail to answer the correct questions, must provide study report for the key paper)
其他需求
OTHER NOTICES:

1. Seminar負責的CEO：協調Seminar相關事宜，如key papers之彙整，製做pair名單與提問登記表並隨堂註記等。此外，也請CEO督促同學準時審格式與繳交manuscript。(Class leader must coodinate related issues of the seminar, such as key papers collections, student pair namelist preparation and record questions.)
2. 口頭報告同學之計時工作由CTO負責，報告計時方式為：初審同學報告時間為18分鐘(15、17及18各按鈴一次，時間到關麥克風)。進度報告時間為10分鐘(8及10各按鈴一次，時間到關麥克風)。(Presentation time management will be responsible by CTO)
3. Seminar負責的CFO：遲到紀錄與罰款管理，於每週剛上課時即登記遲到與缺課同學，並負責將簽到表於第一次下課休息時，繳交給主持老師。同學上課務請提早就座，13:10後到的同學，10分鐘以內罰10元，10~20分鐘罰20元..以此類推；遲到一節課罰50元，未到且沒請假的一律繳交100元。公基金於學期末收齊，轉為當年度之送舊/迎新基金。(Penalty finance will be managed by class CFO)
4. Seminar負責的CCO：保持教室的整潔，上課前請掃地、撿垃圾、將桌椅妥善排好，並準備師長茶水或咖啡，讓大家有個較舒適的討論環境。課後負責調度同學，協助場地收拾整理。(Class environment will be managed by class CCO)
5. 「共好時間」(Gung Ho Time)：每次presentation前或後，由主持老師或所長或其他師長「不定期」進行3-5分鐘的 'Gung Ho Time'，發佈所內重要資訊、所內師生「好」消息之分享(e.g., 結婚/生子/升官/發財/考試通過/中獎/減肥成功/旅行見聞/獲獎表揚/找到另一半等)。(After the seminar, faculty members will made announcements if needed)
