課程目標
藉由微生物之觀察與培養，熟悉微生物世界，了解無菌、消毒的概念及重要性。由微生物遺傳著手，了解生物技術之觀念與操作。並由實驗室的實際操作，訓練使用實驗室的安全衛生習慣。
課程能力
動物生物技術之基礎及應用 (比重 60%)
口頭或書面表達能力 (比重 40%)
課程概述
為實作課程，同學需親手操作。課程內容包括顯微鏡的使用、抹片的製作、細菌的染色，含簡單染色與可鑑定微生物之革蘭氏染色，細菌培養基的製備與細菌培養，細菌生長的觀察與測量，細菌生長的物理與化學控制方法，分析觀察微生物對糖類、脂質、蛋白質的代謝，細菌勝任細胞之製備與轉形，真菌之培養與觀察，質體與細胞染色體DNA的萃取，病毒學基本技術與免疫學基本技術等。
Students in this course learn how to prepare media for different common microorganisms for culture in the laboratory. They also learn to use a microscope to observe and record the tiny world of microorganisms. Other basic biotechniques in the preparation and analysis of DNA of microorganisms are also practiced in the class.

藉由微生物之觀察與培養，熟悉微生物世界。並由微生物遺傳著手，了解生物技術之觀念與操作。
